Custom software · Mississauga

Custom software for Mississauga small businessesbuilt around how you already work.

I'm Andrew. I build custom software for small businesses in Mississauga and across the GTA: staff scheduling, order management, CRMs, booking systems and client portals. Each one replaces the spreadsheet, the group chat and the handful of tools that never quite talked to each other. You own the code, the data and the domain.

Custom software replacesthe workaround that became the system.

Nobody plans to run a business on a workbook. It starts as a quick fix and ends up holding everything. These are the four I see most, and what takes their place.

  • Today: The spreadsheet everyone edits, and nobody fully owns.

Instead: One database with the rules built in, so a shift, an order or a client is entered once, the right way.

  • Today: The WhatsApp group where requests get approved, and lost.

Instead: Requests, approvals and messages on the record they belong to, with a nudge to the person who has to act.

  • Today: Four tools that each hold a quarter of the picture.

Instead: One app that does the four jobs, or talks to the tools you keep, so nothing is typed twice.

  • Today: The prices, steps and exceptions that live in your head.

Instead: Written into the software, so the business runs the same way on the week you are away.

Custom software examplesthe ten I get asked for most.

These are examples, not a menu. Every build starts from how your week runs now, and most end up as some mix of the ten below. The case studies show four of them running.

  1. Custom business apps

A web application for the work your business actually does: intake, approvals, job tracking, reporting. It runs in the browser on any device, behind a login, on your own domain, with no per seat licence.

  2. Custom CRM development

A CRM shaped to how you sell and keep clients: your stages, your fields, your follow ups. Every contact, order and conversation in one place, so nobody starts a call cold.

  3. Online booking systems

Customers pick a real slot from your calendar, get a confirmation and a reminder, and land in your system matched to the right service. The framing studio's bookings sync with the owner's Google Calendar.

  4. Staff scheduling software

Drag and drop schedules with conflict checks, self serve shift swaps, geofenced clock in and timesheets ready for payroll. A multi venue nightlife group runs sixty staff on one.

    See the staff scheduling build
  5. Order management software

Every order on one board from enquiry to delivered, with stages that cannot be skipped, deposits taken online and parcels tracked in and out. A one person framing studio runs its whole business on one.

    See the order management build
  6. Client portal development

A private link where a client approves a design, pays a deposit, uploads a file or checks progress. Every approval is dated and versioned, so there is never an argument about who agreed to what.

  7. Workflow automation and system integrations

The handoffs you do by hand, done by the software: the confirmation email, the invoice, the calendar event, the entry in your accounting. I connect to Stripe, Google Workspace and most tools with an API.

  8. AI integration

Practical uses only: reading documents, sorting enquiries, drafting replies for you to approve. A person always checks the output. A family office's research desk reads each new filing against the last and flags what changed.

    See the research desk build
  9. Mobile apps

Apps that work on iPhone and Android, install to the home screen and keep working where the signal is poor. One build covers phone, tablet and desktop, with no app store between you and an update.

  10. Database development

I started out building insurance databases, and every app above rests on one. Clean tables, enforced rules, nightly backups and reports you can trust. If a spreadsheet has become the business, this is where the rebuild starts.

How it worksone conversation, one plan, one price.

No sales pitch and no surprise invoices. Show me what is slowing you down and I come back with the plan and the price.

  1. Chat with Andrew

A 30 minute Google Meet. You walk me through how you actually run things. I tell you straight whether a custom build is the right call or whether you should just buy something off the shelf.

  2. Approve the Plan

I send back a plain English plan: what's in, what's out, what it costs. You read it, mark it up, sign off.

  3. Go Live

I build, and you see the work as it takes shape. When it's ready it ships to your domain. The code, the database, the deploy keys are all yours from that day.

You own itthe code, the data and the domain.

When a build goes live, the source code, the database and every account are in your name. Take the keys and run it yourself, hand it to another developer, or keep me on.

The managed plan

Most clients keep me on a monthly plan: hosting, backups, security updates and the small changes that come up once real people use the software. One monthly number, agreed before launch, and you can stop whenever you like. There is no lock in, because the thing you would be locked out of is already yours.

Custom software questionsasked on most intro calls.

Seven answers before you book. Anything else, ask me on the call and you will get a straight one.

Is custom software worth it for a small business?

It is when off the shelf gets you most of the way and the missing part is the part your business runs on. If a rented app fits, I will say so on the intro call and you should buy it. Custom pays off when you are paying for several tools, retyping the same information between them, or running the real system in a spreadsheet and your head.

Do I own the code?

Yes. The source code, the database and the domain are yours from the day it goes live, with every account in your name. You can host it yourself, hand it to another developer, or keep me on the managed plan.

What happens after launch?

You choose. Take the keys and run it, or keep me on a monthly plan for hosting, backups, updates and small changes. Either way you have my number, and you talk to the person who built it.

What does custom software cost?

A fixed price, written into the plan after the intro call, and it does not move once you sign off. The number depends on what the software has to do, so I do not quote before I have seen how you work.

Can it connect to the tools I already use?

Usually, yes. I connect to Stripe, Google Workspace, accounting packages and most tools that offer an API. Where a tool has no way in, the software can often take over that job outright. We work out which on the call.

Do you work with businesses outside Mississauga?

Yes. I am based in Mississauga and work with businesses across the GTA and remotely across Ontario. The case studies on this site include Toronto, Mississauga and Sudbury. Calls are on Google Meet, and I come to you when being on site helps.

How does it start?

With a 30 minute intro call. You walk me through how you run things now, I ask questions, and I tell you straight whether a custom build is the right call. If it is, you get a written plan with a fixed price, and nothing is built until you sign off on it.

Show me the spreadsheet.I'll show you what it could be.

Half an hour on a call is enough to know whether a build would pay off for you, and you leave with a straight answer either way.
